Darlington - South Park (Durham)

Thanks to Russ for sending the above photographs of the Giant Sequoias in Darlington's South Park. Russ says "They are a fantastic sight I have seen several straight forward Redwoods but these Multi stemmed ones are just awesome." Yes, they are quite an amazing sight, I have often pondered whether the extra stems made from branches or from roots! These trees are also mentioned by Chris on the Questions page, where you can find a few other examples of this strange phenomenon. These two trees were planted in March 1863 to celebrate the marriage the future King Edward VII to Princess Alexandra of Denmark.
